How to create our smart city with micro:bit (Xavier Rosell)

Building on your learning in the LEDs and buttons sets, these projects and videos will show you how to program your micro:bit to sense movement, light, temperature and magnetic fields. Each set of projects is designed to build your understanding and confidence progressively. You can pick one or work through them all to develop your understanding of using the micro:bit’s sensors

After doing some research in the English class, we decided the most important aspects that our model should include and in the  technology and the robotics classes we have put everything into practice and we have started building the model of our smart city.  How have we worked so far? We have divided the work into groups. Each group has worked on different domains and together we are finishing it. We have a little bit of everything: a school, a hospital, a city hall, a swimming pool, a table for playing table tennis and much more. We are working on some wind turbines that will have an engine and hopefully we will be able to turn them on and make them work. Also we are building  a weather station. It has been fun so far building it and we are looking forward to seeing it finished. By the way, we have also chosen a name for our smart city, the most voted was ADSmart (From Artesa de Segre + smart;-) ).

Today the students' second meeting has taken place and it has been interesting to listen to all your presentations about the different European smart cities . Then we have answered a quiz related to these smart cities, which has been quite fun!! Hope you all have learned a lot! Here a video of the quiz which was created using a platform called "Quizizz". Eva Vidal/INS ELS PLANELLS/ A School Trip to the 22@ District in Barcelona

Thanks to the eTwinning project "Let's build the 2050 EUtopian smart city", the 3rd of ESO students went to 22@ District in Barcelona. One of the first districst of urban innovation in the world. They visited Ca l'Alier, a building which stands out for being sustainable and smart. Then, they discovered the MediaTic building and the Poblenou Superblock. next, they saw Ca l'Aranyó, where the Pompeu Fabra university is located and finally the impressive Cuatrecasas building, Can Framis and the biophotovoltaic pots of the green wall in the "Butterflies garden". It was an amazing experience!
